Mayor Miller important announcement

Will he step down earlier, step back in mayor’s race?
That’s current speculation on Miller’s press event March 10
I will be there and report more after “important announcement”

Mayor Miller to make important announcement March 10 at 9:30 am. Town Crier file photo.

Tonight at 6:11 pm the city and Mayor David Miller’s office sent the media, including me, a vague head’s up he planned to make an important announcement. He will be speaking from his office at 9:30 am tomorrow and I will be there to report on it for the Town Crier newspaper.
Because his office and councillors are being so tight lipped about this announcement, the speculation is Miller will say something on his political future: either he will step down earlier to accept a new job or he’ll jump back into the 2010 Toronto mayor’s race. Of course as I said, this is all just early speculation. Back on Sept 25, Miller announced he would not seek a third term. See today’s press release for yourself, below. What do you think?

  1. Some journalists said we got “punked” by Mayor Miller. His widely speculated announcement today turned out to be on a $100 million additional budget surplus, not his political future.
Not as “sexy” a topic news-wise but an important one none the less.

  2. Well, Nussy I guess some of your prayers were answered. You didn’t want Mayor Miller to run again, he’s still not doing that. But you also wanted him to step down early, not happening.

  3. I don’t know what to think. I hope and pray that Miller does not run. If he leaves office early it would certainly make my day.

  4. Kevin in Taxoronto

I wouldn’t put it past Miller to jump back into the fray now that his protege, Giambrone has bowed out. I certainly hope not for the sake of Torontonians, but I certainly can’t rule it out.

    • Hi Kevin,
thanks for weighing in. I guess we will know in about 10 hours time.
Love to hear your reaction if Miller does announce he’s jumping back in OR stepping down ASAP. Of course, it could be unrelated to his political future but normally the press release would give a hint to the subject of the important announcement such as transit, roads, environment and so forth.
